Task:Write a series of sentences which record your observations during an experiment using a watermelon.

1.First, write to describe what a whole watermelon looks like. You can use the notes from the whole class ‘using your senses’ brainstorm to help you. We won’t include taste or smell today but you should use sight, touch and hearing.

2. Write each sentence on a new line.

3. Read the four possible predictions below and choose the one which matches what you thought. Did you predict it would float or sink? Delete the others.

It was Monday morning and we were doing an experiment for writing to see if a watermelon would float.
|
We were in room 7 at Ohaeawai School THE TOP SENIOR CLASS.
|
First, we had to remember what we had already knew and could say about watermelons using senses.
|
I predicted that the watermelon would float and I was right, it did.
